Bait - Bait for FIshing - Fishing Adventure
Hello fellow anglers, in this article, Mahakamancing will discuss the types of powerful baits. Especially these baits are very easy to get so that it will be easier for anglers to find them and then process them into bait.
Although there are many types of bait such as bait for fishing in the sea. But what we will discuss and recommend this time are only natural/hand processed baits that can be found around us without having to spend a lot of money and are very suitable for freshwater fishing bait. Guaranteed the recommended baits although cheap but effective for various types of fish.
Because the bait used will also depend on the type of fish and also the target spot of the angler, the types of bait below are recommendations that have been used by Mahakammancing himself. For anglers, if you want to go fishing, you must bring 2 to 3 different types of bait to anticipate the absence of fish interest in the spot and also running out of bait. Let's discuss them one by one:
1. Worm Bait
Worms are food for fish in their habitat, almost all wild fish, especially freshwater fish, are very quick to devour worm bait. The type of worm commonly used for bait is earthworm, usually the dominant color of the worm is reddish, not black. Earthworms are very easy to get by just digging in the part of the soil on which there are traces of worm droppings. The target fish is very broad, almost all freshwater fish can use this bait, even the first type of fish to like this bait.
How to Process it:
- Directly feed fresh live worms to the hook.
Note: If the Angler uses a basic fishing technique with a throw far to the center, it is recommended that you feed more worms than usual by making a hook like a bunch of worms or intestines. The goal is that the fish are more attracted and more quickly get a strike.
2. Shrimp Bait
The type of shrimp commonly used is freshwater shrimp and usually small shrimp or prawns. Usually, prawns are easy to find under water hyacinth, grass beside rivers or in swamps. The target fish are usually tilapia, baung, fish with white scales, etc.
How to Process it:
- Directly feed the live prawns that are still fresh to the hook. It is recommended to start inserting the hook from the tail of the shrimp until it penetrates the head of the shrimp so that the shrimp look more alive and do not rot easily in the water.
3. Instant Noodle Feed
Next, there is instant noodle bait that can be found around anglers. The type of noodles used can be of any brand, but it is recommended that noodles have strong flavored spices such as chicken curry, etc. The target fish is not too broad, usually only surface fish that like this bait, bottom fish only fish with scales that like this bait.
How to Process it:
- Mash instant noodles until smooth using a blender or ulekan then add the main seasoning (only the main seasoning)
- Add flour to taste / powdered dancow milk (optional)
- Add 1 egg (optional)
- Add flavoring commonly used for cakes to make the aroma more attractive (optional)
- Mix enough water and stir until it becomes like cake batter.
Note: Don't let the dough get too soft because there's too much water. This bait is indeed very easy to be devoured by fish, but this bait has high accuracy.
4. Roma Malkist Abon bait
This bait is not very familiar to many anglers even though this bait is very effective for white fish targets (fish that have white dominant scales). Cheap and easy to process is what makes this bait too underestimated. Because Mancingmahakam never tried it, this bait is highly recommended if you want to play white fish, not including hudang or basic fish that have smooth skin without scales like baung fish. It is enough to buy a small dime which usually costs Rp.2000 without having to buy a large package.
How to Process it:
- Crush the Roma Malkist Shredded until evenly distributed then add a little water, stir until it becomes a dough and the bait is ready to use.
Note: Don't let the dough get too soft because there's too much water. This bait is indeed very easy to be devoured by fish, but this bait has high accuracy.
5. Moss Bait
This one bait anglers can get in swamps which usually have moisture so that it is easy for moss to grow. Although there are many who sell this bait, anglers can find it themselves. The target of this bait is the main tilapia and white fish. However, in certain spots there are many other freshwater fish that like this bait.
How to Process it:
- If the moss obtained or purchased is preserved so that it is dry. Please add water to the moss and add a little salt.
Note: Usually this type of bait is used with a series of three hooks so that the moss can be firmly attached to the hook. Also make sure the moss used is neither too old nor too young, it can be seen from the color of the moss.
6. Cricket Bait
Although this type of bait will be a little difficult to find and then collect, anglers can buy it at a pet/poultry shop. The target of this bait is bottom fish such as baung and sometimes even shrimp are attracted to this bait, even though this bait can be used to lure surface fish, Mahakammancing does not recommend it because it will be very wasteful and easily torn apart by surface fish. The main targets are usually baung and catfish-like.
- How to Process it:
Directly feed live crickets that are still fresh to the hook.
Note: Make sure the cricket is properly baited in the eye of the hook because live crickets easily escape from the hook.
7. Fried Bait
Although for anglers this is a bit strange, Mahakammancing has tried it himself and the results are very satisfying. The types of fried foods that are commonly used are jemblem, fried bananas, bakwan/ote-ote. The main targets are usually catfish, sassy, pulutan.
How to Process it:
- Cut the fried food into small pieces and then feed it.
Note: Position the bait not in the eye of the fishing line but on the fishing line. The goal is that the bait is not easily washed away or damaged due to being torn by fish and exposed to heavy currents.
8. Rice Field Frog
Although the bait this time requires extra energy to get it, the results never disappoint according to the experience of Mancingmahakam. Usually this bait is used for merawai/tajur, which is a fishing technique by spreading a lot of fishing rods and then leaving it for a while and checking for results. The main target for predators, of course, is snakehead fish and toman fish, and the spots are usually swamps.
How to Process it:
- Directly feed live frogs to the hook
Note: Make sure the way to feed the rice field frogs is correct and correct, namely the hook is plugged into both frog legs and make sure the bait doesn't sink but seems like floating in the water so that the frog doesn't die quickly and the frog tries to escape so that it creates splashes of water that attract the attention of the predator. Finally, make sure the angler has bent the hook slightly to minimize the possibility of escaping a vicious predator.
9. Sepat Fish
This type of bait is easy to get as well as looking for prawn chicks, the easy way is to set a small fish trap in the swamp with snail bait, the sepat fish will be easy to get. Use a medium sized fish, not too big or too small. The main targets are the same, namely predators such as snakehead fish and toman and swamp spots with tajur fishing techniques.
How to Process it:
- Directly feed the live sepat fish to the hook
Note: Make sure the method of baiting the sepat fish is correct and correct, namely the hook is plugged in at the top or the back of the sepat fish right behind the upper fin and make sure the bait does not sink but seems to be floating in the water so that the sepat fish does not die quickly and tries to escape so that it creates splashes of water. attract the attention of the predator. Finally, make sure the angler has bent the hook slightly to minimize the possibility of escaping a vicious predator.
10. Rice Conch
If the angler's tajur baits such as frogs or sepat fish do not exist. Anglers should try rice snail bait, although the accuracy is not like frogs and sepat fish but rice snails are able to attract the attention of predators with mucus from rice snails. The main targets are still the same, namely predators such as snakehead fish and tomans and swamp spots using tajur fishing techniques.
How to Process it:
- Break the pieces of the rice field snail, then separate the part of the rice snail meat (yellowish white color and harder than the other parts) and also the part of the shell cover under the snail that is attached to the meat, then attach it tightly to the hook, the remaining unused part can be used for fish trap bait. Finally, make sure the angler has bent the hook slightly to minimize the possibility of escaping a vicious predator.
11. Chicken Intestines
Furthermore, the recommended bait is chicken intestine, usually easily found in the market or unused offal in the angler's kitchen. The main targets are bottom fish, which usually have a patil. It is suitable for fishing fast currents with a high level of depth.
How to Process it:
- Directly attach fresh chicken intestines to the hook.
Note: Make sure the anglers take good care of this bait because if it is rotten the bait will smell very bad and have to use plastic gloves to hold it, the more rotten the intestines do not determine the accuracy of the bait according to Mancingmahakam's experience, it is the intestines that are still fresh with a rancid smell that have more accuracy tall.
12. Flies
Flies? yes flies, From fishing experience this bait has high accuracy, especially for edge and surface fishing. Make sure the flies used are large flies that usually flock to carcasses or rotting garbage, their characteristics have a shiny green color. Although it is a little strange, the target fish of this bait is very diverse, almost all the edges and surfaces of the belt, even chopstick fish eat this bait very quickly, bottom fish are attracted to this bait like baung fish.
How to Process it:
- Directly attach the fly to the hook.
Note: This bait is almost like kroto but does not have as high accuracy as kroto.
Are anglers interested in trying the baits recommended by Mahakam fishing, although there are many other types of bait that are very good but here Mahakammancing only recommends baits that have been used directly in fishing experience. Hopefully the information provided can be very useful for anglers...
